Youngsters go bonkers for wildlife

Wildlife of St Andrews’ Lade Braes provided a fun time for youngsters in the town yesterday. Children learned about the various animals, bugs and plants in the area. The holiday event in Cockshaugh Park was staged by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and local gift shop Bonkers. It was funded by the Bonkers Green Bags scheme which has raised £2725 for the trust by the sale of reusable shopping bags. Youngsters waiting for the "off" are seen with Lindsey Adam (centre, from Bonkers).

New Eco-Friendly Tagua Nut Jewellery

Eco-friendly colourful jewellery. It is all made of “vegetable ivory” which is Tagua Nuts gathered from Tagua palms in the rainforest in Colombia thus ensuring the long life of these trees.


The nuts are then dried, cut, coloured and polished to make the jewellery.






We have a whole Tagua Nut to show customers to explain the raw material.







The Tagua seed has more to offer: the fine dust produced by working the nut serves as an enrichment of live stock feed. Most importantly, tagua is replacing the slaughter of mammal ivory (elephants and others) in the textile and fashion industries.

Go bonkers with Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT) Wildlife Day Thursday 16 April!

Same format as last year, children will love this event – lots of games and looking for creepy crawlies at Cockshaugh Park and the Lade Braes in St Andrews.

Launched by popular St Andrews gift retailer Bonkers in 2007, Bonkers Green Bags have raised £2725.00 for the Scottish Wildlife Trust so far.

Bonkers gets a Ground Floor Makeover

Following on from a hectic Christmas trading period, Your fav shop, Bonkers is now undergoing a ground floor makeover.

Downstairs is still open so don't worry you can still get in and do your "bonkers" thing.

The makeover will last from Monday 19th Jan to 23rd Jan 2009.

Cool new shelving and storage units are going in together with subtle changes of colour and lighting.

This, of course means lots of new products are on their way to keep you entertained so don't be shy and come and say hello next week when it's all complete.
